Construction Engineer
Job Description
Location: Westchester, IL
Salary: $80k-100K based on experience + Profit sharing
Hire Type: Direct Hire

MUST HAVE: IDOT or municipality experience w. Civil Engineering Degree
Join a growing team where you’ll take the lead on meaningful municipal engineering projects that shape communities. In this role, you’ll work independently with the support of a Project Manager while gaining hands-on experience across a variety of infrastructure improvements — including Federally Funded STP/LAFO projects, local road upgrades, IEPA-funded utility improvements, and MFT-supported initiatives.
- Inspection of Municipal Engineering Improvement Projects:
- Coordinate with residents, businesses, and other stakeholders along construction projects.
- Review contractor’s dynamic construction schedules.
- Draft and prepare construction notification letters.
- Maintain a project diary and daily inspection log per IDOT requirements.
- Construction Documentation:
- Track quantities related to each pay item.
- Perform yield checks on materials.
- Establish and maintain schedules for progress payments.
- Ensure documentation adheres to IDOT standards.
- Inspect construction for compliance with plans.
- Coordination Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with utility companies.
- Schedule, lead, and document pre-construction meetings.
- Coordinate projects with business districts, park districts, and schools.
- Work with permit agencies such as MWRD and IDOT.
- Construction Layout and Staking:
- Utilize one-man and two-man total stations to gather topographic data.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year institution.
- 4+ years of experience as a Resident Engineer or Construction Engineer
- 2+ years of IDOT or municipality experience
- Proficient in software tools such as ICORS, Microsoft Office, and AutoCAD.
