Job Description
Title: Coating Inspector
Location: Baltimore, MD
Hire Type: 4-6 month contract
Compensation: $30-40/hour

- Monitor daily pipeline and gas distribution construction activities performed by contractor crews
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and Federal Safety Standards for Transportation of Natural and Other Gas by Pipeline (49 CFR Part 192)
- Oversee and direct compliance for transmission pipeline inspections, regulator stations, and distribution systems
- Coordinate federal safety requirements with Operations and Maintenance (O&M) manuals to ensure full regulatory alignment
- Conduct inspections of coating materials and pipe surfaces to identify defects or nonconformities
- Verify that all field-applied pipe coatings are properly mixed, prepared, and applied in accordance with client specifications, applicable standards, and regulatory requirements
- Provide clear direction to contractor crews when corrective actions are required and verify proper resolution
- Participate in daily safety briefings and verify contractor qualifications and certifications
- Document daily jobsite activities, progress, safety observations, and compliance findings
- Maintain accurate records related to inspections, safety, and efficiency
- Identify potential safety or quality issues, assess their severity, and take appropriate corrective action
- Support overall safety and quality control initiatives for field construction operations
- Field-based oversight role with frequent interaction with contractor crews
- Requires sound judgment and decision-making in active construction environments
- Emphasis on safety compliance, quality assurance, and detailed documentation
- Non-manual compliance assurance role with significant field presence
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the utility, pipeline, or a closely related industry
- NACE CIP Level 1, Level 2, or Level 3 certification (as required by the client)
- API 1169 certification preferred
