Sterling Engineering is hiring a Structural Steel Inspector for projects across the Northern Virginia and Washington, DC areas. This is a great opportunity to contribute to high-profile structural steel fabrication and erection projects.
Job Duties:
- Perform inspection of welding, bolting, structural steel fabrications, and steel erection activities.
- Monitor and document fabrication work to ensure compliance with approved shop drawings.
- Prepare and submit daily field reports in digital format.
- Maintain effective communication with owners, engineers, fabricators, and other stakeholders.
- Travel to job sites and work in both indoor and outdoor environments, sometimes in adverse weather conditions.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in structural steel inspection and QA/QC during fabrication.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable working long hours in various environmental conditions and lifting 25+ lbs.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), ICC Special Inspector (Structural Steel Welding and Bolting), or equivalent certification required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office applications.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Must pass background and driving record checks.
