Job Summary:

In this key role you will be responsible for leading and directing employees and/or elements of the Civil department including workstreams, engineers, and designers in completion of tasks such as site development layouts, grading and drainage designs, and hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for various Infrastructure projects in multiple industries. Responsibilities will include the coordination and development of calculations, construction drawings, investigative reports, contracts, technical specifications, design standards, as well as the implementation of those designs for the construction of the previously stated installations.

  • Provide proactive and strategic leadership for the civil engineering discipline and function, offering direction, expertise, and support to ensure project and work site deliverables are successfully achieved within the business sector.
  • Mentor staff to support their growth and professional development.
  • Manage and provide performance guidance and leadership to assigned staff when applicable.
  • Independently perform and supervise civil analysis and design.
  • Independently prepare basis of designs, detailed design calculations, technical reports, and assessment reports.
  • Develop, communicate, and coordinate project scope, budget, and schedule with internal teams internal and external to the civil discipline as well as with client stakeholders.
  • Conduct/coordinate/participate in design review meetings for projects assigned.
  • Adhere to and demonstrate compliance with appropriate industry regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to comply with all governing jurisdictional requirements and communicate stated requirements and solutions effectively.
  • Develop and coordinate construction material, design standards, and technical specifications.
  • Perform site visits to inspect and assess existing sites as well as greenfield sites.
  • Ability to lead a project from conceptual stage to completed construction while maintaining a strong understanding of other engineering disciplines scopes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required.
  • EIT certification required, PE certification required.
  • This position requires a minimum of 4 years of experience as a Civil Engineer with exposure to Structural and Geotechnical Disciplines preferred.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements, and the business impact upon the organization.
  • Works independently and provides guidance and leadership to junior and mid-level staff, with strict adherence to deliverable quality.
  • Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results oriented, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Experience using the following software required: Autodesk Civil 3D, Microsoft office suite, Bluebeam or equivalent.
  • Experience using the following software preferred: Microstation, InRoads/OpenRoads, Infraworks, Hydrologic/Hydraulic Software, MathCAD, and Google Earth.
  • Experience with industry standards.
