Job Summary:
  • The Chemical Process Engineer is responsible for developing systems, processes, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for manufacturing chemicals and chemical-based products. Using process simulation and engineering methodologies, they identify and solve processing problems to optimize production quality and performance.

Job Duties:
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and R&D teams to design, test, and optimize scalable production processes.
  • Optimize and troubleshoot manufacturing processes and product formulation.
  • Lead project teams to achieve business objectives, including cost, schedule, and line performance.
  • Coordinate project activities between plant personnel, contractors, equipment suppliers, and corporate entities.
  • Develop and maintain project action items to achieve project performance goals.
  • Develop practices to increase effectiveness and reduce operational costs.
  • Aid in commercializing manufacturing processes for new products.
  • Develop Production and Product Integrity improvement projects.
  • Promote Lean Manufacturing and Accountability among management and plant personnel.
  • Assist in specifying, purchasing, installing, and commissioning process equipment and systems.
  • Design and conduct pilot and production-scale process tests, evaluating data using written reports.
  • Establish and train operators on equipment operating parameters.
  • Develop, prioritize, and execute the annual capital plan.
  • Provide technical leadership to support safety, quality, operations, and maintenance activities.
  • Design and optimize building utility systems.
  • Maintain controlled document library for drawings, PIDs, and electrical schematics.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for air emissions, wastewater effluent, etc.
  • Conduct research and development projects to innovate and optimize products.
  • Research and develop plans to enhance process efficiency and production cost.
  • Implement food-safe engineering design practices consistent with industry standards.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, or similar discipline required; PE License preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in food manufacturing.
  • Experience in food science laboratory work or process equipment engineering with a food company.
  • Preferred experience with HACCP, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, PFW, Microsoft AX, D365, and Allen Bradley programming software preferred.
  • Excellent documentation skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and databases.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including off-shifts and weekends.
