Title: CNC Machinists
Location: Skokie, IL
Shift: 1st (6AM to 2:30PM) & 2nd Shift Available (2:30 PM – 11:00 PM) – Multiple Openings
1st Shift: Available for Highly Experienced CNC Machinists
Hire Type: Direct Hire
Pay Rate: $28–$34 per hour + $2.00 per hour Shift Differential (2nd Shift)
Top Pay: Up to $37 per hour for highly qualified CNC Machinists

Sterling Engineering is hiring CNC Machinists for a well-established precision manufacturing company with multiple openings. Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate a variety of CNC machining centers to manufacture precision components
  • Perform machine setups, tool changes, and production adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency
  • Operate multi-axis CNC equipment while maintaining tight tolerances
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions
  • Verify part quality using precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment
  • Monitor machining operations and make offsets or adjustments as needed
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean, organized work area
  • Troubleshoot machining issues to minimize downtime and maximize productivity
  • Work independently while consistently meeting production, quality, and safety standards
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to improve machining processes and efficiency
Qualifications
  • Must have 2-5+ years of CNC machining experience
  • Must have strong experience performing complete CNC machine setups
  • Must have multi-axis machining experience
  • Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings
  • Strong understanding of machining practices, tooling, feeds, and speeds
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, and gauges
