Title: CNC Machinist
Location: Palatine, IL
Shift: 2nd Shift 4:30 pm – 1:00 am (Mon–Fri)
Hire Type: Contract to Hire
Salary: $27–$33/hr + 10% shift premium

Sterling Engineering is hiring CNC Machinists  for a leading manufacturer of electrical grid solutions in Palatine, IL. This is a great opportunity to work with a growing company and loves to promote from within! 

Job Duties:
  • Setup and operate CNC machines per work instructions
  • Perform part inspection using micrometers, calipers, and height gauges
  • Deburr and clean parts using belt sanders or drill presses
  • Maintain quality and production output in a self-directed environment
  • Handle parts ranging from 1 lb. to 50 lbs.
Qualifications:
  • Intermediate: 3+ years of CNC machining and setup experience
  • Proficiency in blueprint reading and shop math
  • Experience operating and setting up Okuma and Mazak machines
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced production environment
  • Familiarity with basic inspection tools and metal cutting practices
