Job Summary:
We are seeking a Manufacturing Buyer with a specialization in the food manufacturing industry to join our team. Reporting directly to the Sales and Operation Planning Manager, this pivotal role involves procuring commodities, raw materials, packaging, and other materials from external suppliers for our contract manufacturing division. You will be responsible for securing these goods at the best possible price while ensuring they meet our stringent quality, quantity, and delivery standards. Your efforts will contribute to the seamless and efficient functioning of our supply chain, playing a crucial part in ensuring our contract manufacturing operations are well-stocked with essential materials at optimal costs, thereby enhancing the overall efficiency and success of our organization.

This role demands excellent communication skills, both internally and externally, as you will collaborate closely with key stakeholders, including customers, sales, planning and scheduling, R&D, warehouse, distribution, logistics, and production.

Job Duties:
  • Manage the MRP report, promptly addressing material shortages.
  • Place orders, including blanket POs, run and ship, or release POs, as needed.
  • Firm coating orders in alignment with tank schedules on a weekly basis.
  • Oversee the Co-Man Inventory report in SharePoint.
  • Participate in weekly commercialization meetings.
  • Engage in weekly calls with Co-Man customers.
  • Coordinate truck arrangements with traffic to ensure schedule compliance.
  • Complete monthly PPV reports with financial impact.
  • Execute workflows in a timely manner.
  • Communicate weekly inventory reports.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and sales representatives, fostering open dialogue to maximize vendor relationships.
  • Establish connections with suppliers and customers to procure materials for new projects.
  • Direct R&D personnel to potential sources of supply as required.
  • Manage return-to-vendor hold reports to safeguard Georgia Nut against subpar materials or packaging.
  • Assist in updating standard quarterly prices in AX.
  • Collaborate with sales on costing workbooks quarterly.
  • Oversee the E&O (Excess and Obsolete) list.
  • Manage DISC (Discontinued) items with customers.
  • Oversee all inventories of contract manufacturing packaging, raw materials, and coatings.
  • Attend plant tours to gain insights into the processes related to your purchasing responsibilities.
  • Attend plant tours to verify that the company is sourcing materials from reputable suppliers, ensuring a continuous supply without interruption.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, supply chain management, or operations.
  • 3-5 years of purchasing or supply chain management experience.
  • Profound supply chain knowledge, including processes, logistics, and inventory management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient negotiation skills.
  • Outstanding leadership and interpersonal abilities.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, including multitasking, prioritization, meeting deadlines, follow-up, and attention to detail.
  • Adaptability to accommodate multiple requests and daily changes while meeting commitments.
  • Knowledge and experience in MRP and ERP systems, inventory control, and materials requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in various software applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Sales Force, Trace Gains, SharePoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Capability to envision the future and implement strategies for continuous improvement, cost reduction, risk mitigation, and downtime reduction.
  • Competence in analyzing process flows, identifying root causes of process breakdowns, and implementing process changes/improvements and corrective actions.
  • Ability to develop goals and objectives measured by key performance indicators (KPIs).
