Sr. Buyer
Job Description
- We are seeking a Senior Buyer to oversee and coordinate all purchasing and materials management activities at our site. This is a high-impact role, blending strategic sourcing, team leadership, and supplier relationship management to drive operational excellence.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all purchasing-related activities, including addressing questions and resolving issues for the team.
- Assist in training new team members and creating/updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for purchasing processes.
- Partner with the Purchasing Supervisor to establish annual purchasing goals and initiatives, including leading ABC Analysis and Annual Cost Roll.
- Step in as the main contact for Product Information Requests (PIRs) in the supervisor’s absence.
- Manage sourcing activities for new and existing products and services, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and business requirements.
- Prepare RFQs, evaluate supplier quotes, and lead supplier selection processes based on cost, quality, and delivery.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers to align with budgetary goals while maintaining high standards of quality and delivery timelines.
- Support new vendor selection, including quality audits and approval of FAI parts in collaboration with Operations and Quality teams.
- Oversee materials management for assigned components and commodities, maintaining accurate cost models and forecasting material fluctuations based on market indices.
- Collaborate with the materials team to set up new parts in the ERP system, align material planning parameters, and analyze sales trends to optimize procurement.
- Establish and adjust material release schedules to meet production demands and resolve material-related issues in collaboration with manufacturing teams.
- Drive cost-reduction initiatives and lead APR processes without compromising quality or production goals.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Business or Operations, Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.
- 5 -7+ years of experience working in a purchasing, material planning, supply chain management, and/or inventory control function, preferably within a manufacturing, assembly, distribution center, or other industrial environment.
