Overview:
This role ensures the continuous operation and optimization of building systems critical to manufacturing and facility operations. The Building Automation Controls Engineer maintains, troubleshoots, and improves facility control systems, including HVAC, utilities, and other facility equipment, through Siemens Building Automation Systems (BAS) using PPCL programming. This is a specialized role focused on BAS, not industrial PLCs.
 
Job Duties: 
  • Operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain Siemens BAS systems, including Apogee Insight and Desigo platforms.
  • Write, modify, and troubleshoot PPCL code for Siemens PXC BACnet controllers to optimize facility systems.
  • Maintain HVAC and utility systems, including air handlers, chillers, boilers, pumps, and other building equipment.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and project teams to implement improvements and support production continuity.
  • Maintain system documentation, monitoring logs, best operating practices (BOPs), and training materials for regulatory compliance.
  • Respond to facility system issues promptly, evaluating root causes and implementing effective solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Support start-up of new systems and ongoing projects, providing technical input to ensure optimal performance.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to operators, contractors, and other personnel regarding BAS systems.
 
Qualifications: 
  • 5+ years of experience in building automation, facilities controls, or related technical roles.
  • Hands-on experience with Siemens Building Automation Systems (Apogee Insight & Desigo).
  • Proficiency in PPCL (Powers Process Control Language) programming for Siemens PXC controllers.
  • Practical knowledge of BACnet-based building controllers and BAS platforms.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC principles, sequence of operations, and facility systems controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex building systems independently.
