Automotive Test Technician
Job Description
- Support engine and alternator test cells
- Troubleshoot problems/failures in the process and procedures issues
- Document standard work that’s accurate and safe for the test cells and perform the task needed which includes defining and piloting technical test creating working instructions and identifying programming and tooling needs
- Train others on the process and procedures
- Read blueprints or job orders to determine product specification and tooling instructions
- Follow reporting and recordkeeping procedures and report problems to supervisor
- Use precision gauges and instruments to determine and follow customers specifications
- Calculate and record data
- Diagnose, adjust, troubleshoot, and repair all defects found during testing
- Responsible for test set-ups and special instrumentations required to determine parts performance and systems characteristics
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3 Years of Technical Assembly experience or Technical Degree
- Ability to learn how to test
- Ability to read and understand mechanical / electrical / pneumatic / hydraulic schematics flowcharts
- Functional understanding of electrical and mechanical systems
- Technical knowledge to detect a deficiency with written skills to record deficiencies in an easily understandable manner and the expertise to repair the deficiency (if required)
- Basic understanding of BOM and routing structure
- Ability to comfortably present to team members and other area leaders
- Intermediate level skills of Microsoft Office (Excel / Word / PowerPoint)
- Experience in test specification reading and interpretation
