Job Description

Overview: 
As an Automation Project Engineer, you will lead the design and development of high-speed custom automation solutions, guiding tooling design engineers and overseeing the entire machine lifecycle. Utilizing Siemens NX CAD software, you will design innovative cable manufacturing machinery and provide technical support for equipment launches, including installation, training, and retooling strategies. This hands-on role can be based out of either Lisle, IL or Maumelle, AR and involves attending design reviews, collaborating cross-functionally, and ensuring adherence to internal procedures and quality standards.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Conduct assembly feasibility assessments and provide cost estimates for new product development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to determine design completion dates and prioritize work assignments.
  • Design new cable manufacturing machinery utilizing advanced CAD software, such as Siemens NX.
  • Assist in developing and executing machine qualification plans.
  • Provide technical support for the launch of equipment, including on-site installation, training, and developing re-tooling strategies.
  • Participate in design reviews and PFMEA sessions, working closely with design engineers to enhance current and future automation designs.
  • Track projects, develop accurate BOMs, and maintain up-to-date spare tooling lists.
  • Ensure compliance with internal product development procedures, TQM, ISO, and EH&S management systems.
  • Embrace continuous improvement methodologies, such as Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of mechanical design experience and 2 years of experience with automated manufacturing/assembly systems.
  • Minimum of 1 year of project management experience.
  • Proficiency in Siemens NX or comparable 3D CAD software.
  • Expertise in designing and documenting complex assemblies in CAD.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and tolerance analysis.
  • Ability to travel internationally, up to 20% per year.
  • Proficiency in foreign languages, such as Mandarin or Spanish, is a plus.
