Automation Project Engineer
Job Description
- Conduct assembly feasibility assessments and provide cost estimates for new product development initiatives.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to determine design completion dates and prioritize work assignments.
- Design new cable manufacturing machinery utilizing advanced CAD software, such as Siemens NX.
- Assist in developing and executing machine qualification plans.
- Provide technical support for the launch of equipment, including on-site installation, training, and developing re-tooling strategies.
- Participate in design reviews and PFMEA sessions, working closely with design engineers to enhance current and future automation designs.
- Track projects, develop accurate BOMs, and maintain up-to-date spare tooling lists.
- Ensure compliance with internal product development procedures, TQM, ISO, and EH&S management systems.
- Embrace continuous improvement methodologies, such as Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of mechanical design experience and 2 years of experience with automated manufacturing/assembly systems.
- Minimum of 1 year of project management experience.
- Proficiency in Siemens NX or comparable 3D CAD software.
- Expertise in designing and documenting complex assemblies in CAD.
- Strong understanding of GD&T and tolerance analysis.
- Ability to travel internationally, up to 20% per year.
- Proficiency in foreign languages, such as Mandarin or Spanish, is a plus.
