Automation Engineer

Location: Long Grove, IL

Hire Type: Direct Hire - $85-115k

Overview: Sterling, a Best of Staffing company, is seeking an Automation Engineer to lead the development, installation, validation, and ramp-up of part handling solutions for medical device molded parts.

Job Duties:

  • Monitor asset efficiencies and structure data collection
  • Conceptualize, develop and implement complex part handling solutions
  • Lead Automation projects through design, validation, and ramp-up phases
  • Establish, manage, and maintain automation project budgets and timelines
  • Provide oversight and technical support at OEM site
  • Develop equipment quality control strategies
  • Provide training to Operations personnel
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and corporate guidelines
  • Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action implementation
  • Support lean and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of related experience in high-volume assembly and cGMP/ISO 13485 compliant manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, servo motors, pick-and-place, sensors, robotics, and feed systems
  • Experience in programmable logic controllers
  • Strong communication skills
  • Occasional travel up to 15 percent based on assignments.
