Title: Applications Engineer
Location: Warren, MI area
Hire Type: Direct Hire
Salary Range: $100k-$120k (flexible)

MUST HAVE: overhead conveyor / MDR conveyor experience. 
 
Position Overview: The Application Engineer is responsible for executing engineering tasks and managing projects related to overhead conveyor systems. This role involves collaborating with various internal teams and customers to ensure system designs meet specifications and are compliant with relevant codes. The Application Engineer will mentor junior team members and assist in managing customer relationships and project deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with industrial engineers, design analysts, the sales team, and clients to understand system requirements and develop specifications.
  • Design material handling systems, including static, semi-automated, and fully automated solutions. Specify necessary auxiliary equipment and systems.
  • Work with clients to determine additional equipment needs such as workstations, forklifts, carton erectors, and other material handling devices, assessing alternative technologies.
  • Prepare proposals, review vendor offers, and estimate project costs, coordinating with conveyor manufacturers and external vendors.
  • Provide support to the sales team for both project-based and e-commerce sales, including visiting job sites for customer meetings and assessments.
  • Create detailed plans and technical drawings using AutoCAD (2D) and SolidWorks (3D).
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards, including building codes, fire safety regulations, CEMA standards, and OSHA guidelines.
  • Review the work of other team members and provide guidance, mentoring, and training to junior staff.
  • Identify and evaluate new technologies, equipment suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Enforce company and department standards for project management and engineering processes.
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks (3D design).
  • In-depth knowledge of material handling systems.
  • Strong project management experience and knowledge of engineering principles.
  • Familiarity with financial accounting practices as they relate to project budgeting.
  • Proven leadership and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Highly organized, self-driven, and detail-oriented.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies.
