Overview:

Sterling, a Best of Staffing company, is seeking an experienced Applications Engineer for a direct hire position with a premier designer and manufacturer of customized process fluid chillers. The successful candidate will work closely with customers and the Engineering team to profile new applications, modify product configurations, troubleshoot technical issues, and provide exceptional customer service. Job Summary:

The Applications Engineer will be responsible for profiling new applications with customers, including functional specifications, project timelines, and cost targets. They will plan and modify product configurations to meet customer needs, generate price quotations, and provide technical support for chillers in the field. The Applications Engineer will select and source major components for custom designs with Engineering, and support Engineering and Manufacturing in the design and assembly process to ensure all customer requirements are met. Additionally, they will support OEM accounts as the primary relationship contact for day-to-day requests and collaborate with OEM Engineers to design cooling solutions for new OEM products.

Job Duties:

• Profile new applications with customers, including functional specifications, project timelines, and cost targets. • Plan and modify product configurations to meet customer needs. • Generate price quotations for customers, including technical submittal information. • Troubleshoot and provide technical support for chillers in the field. • Select and source major components for custom designs with Engineering. • Support Engineering and Manufacturing in the design and assembly process to ensure all customer requirements are met. • Support OEM accounts as the primary relationship contact for day-to-day requests. • Develop a technical expertise in the cooling requirements of OEM instruments and the corresponding chillers that support them. • Collaborate with OEM Engineers to design cooling solutions for new OEM products.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors of Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical). • Minimum 5-7 years of work experience. • Knowledge of Refrigeration Systems: Preferred. • Engineering and Technology: Knowledge of the practical application of engineering principles, techniques, and procedures to the design of product. • English Language: Excellent use of grammar and composition, both in writing and talking to others to convey information effectively. • Critical Thinking: Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. • Perceptiveness: Ability to “read a situation”. Awareness of underlying dynamics that exist during customer interactions and knowing how to strategically respond. • Active Learning: Understanding the implications of new information to solve problems. • Active Listening: Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate. • Computer Skills: proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point. Aptitude to learn ERP system and processes.
