Target Pay Rate: $20/hr-$24/hr

The Accounts Payable Associate contributes to the company’s success by ensuring the efficient processing of vendor payables in a timely and accurate manner. This role is pivotal in maintaining strong relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders, adhering to accounts payable policies and procedures, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the department. The Accounts Payable Associate will report to the Accounts Payable Supervisor.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Invoice Assessment: Evaluate incoming invoices to determine the correct processing channel (PO/Non-PO) and ensure all invoice requirements are met.
- Follow up on incomplete or inaccurate invoices with vendors or update systems as needed.
- Correct and train OCR technology fields to enhance accuracy.
- Vendor Management: Request vendor changes for remit-to records, purchasing updates, address changes, and payment methods.
- Mail Processing: Manage incoming postal mail, ensuring invoices and checks are scanned into EMP VIM promptly and routed correctly.
- Audit Execution: Perform vendor create and change audits following required control procedures.
- Invoice Maintenance: Process invoice cancellations, reversals, and corrections as needed.
- Invoice Posting: Post invoices using a 3-way match process and resolve exceptions in collaboration with purchasing, vendors, and plant contacts.
- Credit Memos: Process and manage credit memos effectively.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within the accounts payable function.
- Project Support: Assist with projects and tasks as assigned to meet business needs.

Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: High school diploma plus additional training or coursework in Accounting (required); Associate degree (preferred).
- Experience: 2+ years in a high-volume Accounts Payable department with increasing levels of responsibility (preferred).
- Systems Knowledge: Understanding of Accounts Payable systems and processes; experience in SAP environment (preferred).
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Teams).
- Organizational Skills: Strong ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.
- Customer Service: Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Analytical Ability: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required.
- Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to work as a team player focused on achieving results.
- Attention to Detail: High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Passion for AP: Stay current on accounts payable practices and maintain a strong interest in the technical aspects of the work.
