Job Description
Title: Quality Engineer
Location: Twin Lakes, WI
- Ability to interpret work instructions, process control sheets and engineering drawings for part qualification and 100% dimensional layouts for PPAP submission. Engineer will be able to read and understand all items on part drawings to include GD&T callouts as applicable and can validate with a CMM.
- Review PPAP documentation prior to release to verify results. Correspond with suppliers and customers as needed to correct or update any prints or material until PPAP approval.
- Operation of CMM measuring arm used for part acceptance and first article inspection reports; including reverse engineering of customer-supplied parts and tooling.
- Monitor and maintain any customer portals to include warranties, PPAP, corrective actions, engineering change requests, or material certification or declaration requests.
- Work with customers to proactively correct issues relating to tooling, prints and product
- Understanding of and proficient in current CMM software used for hard probe and non-contact measuring (scanning) including PolyWorks
- Facilitate corrective/preventative actions
- Assist in root cause investigation of non-conformities, including review and follow-up for completion
- Work with engineering teams on pre-production design and qualification methods
- Assist suppliers in root cause investigation of non-conformities including review and follow-up for completion
- Ability to create basic reports using Microsoft Word and Excel; prepares graphs or charts of data or enters data into computer for analysis
- Visit vendor and customer facilities as necessary as part of a SCAR, Auditing, or other collaboration efforts between supplier/customer and observe their manufacturing environment
- Look for flaws and issues by conducting tests and assessments on batches of products to identify recurring errors or quality issues
- Prepare and maintain detailed reports which contain vital information including defect rates and areas within the manufacturing process that result in flaws
- Provide technical guidance and advice to suppliers and to decision-makers within their organizations
- Frequently serve as a liaisons between organizations’ senior management and vendors
- Able to work by them self and prioritize with minimal guidance
- Able to interact well with Management, Supervisors, and all other employees
- Keep legible and organized records/documentation and inspection records
- Strong quality focus with great attention to detail
- Engineers will be familiar with ISO 9001:2015 requirements and at times facilitate internal and external audits along with or without the Quality Manager. If the Engineer is facilitating an ISO audit, they will coordinate with a Quality Technician to shadow the audit and participate with answering questions as needed.
- Maintain a clean work area and follow plant safety rules and regulations
- Perform other duties outside normal work functions as directed by Management
