Job Summary:
The Process Engineer, reporting to the Engineering Manager, will be responsible for: process monitoring and KPI development of the operational area; process design to support capital execution and plant process changes; troubleshooting support for process issues; driving improvements in yields, productivity, resource efficiency, and cost savings; assist in solving root causes related to process; implementation of all aspects of process improvement in the Amboy facility. This job will be responsible for communicating effectively our KPIs and process optimization goals and objectives and resulting performance to the local organization and leadership team.
Job Duties:
- Further develop Amboy’s KPIs and key process parameters to effectively monitor and measure the performance of the process and use these measures to drive improvement.
- Drive improvements in productivity and yields in our processes. Focus is on throughput, identifying and eliminating bottlenecks, minimizing downtime, improving turnaround times, and adjusting process parameters. This position will work closely with finance on investigating yield variances. There will be yearly savings and productivity targets set.
- Identify other cost reductions and resource efficiency opportunities. Own the development of these ideas and monitoring of these for the site.
- Support capital projects and plant process changes through the development of P&ID’s, mass and energy balances, technology review and selection, & piloting of new processes. This position will provide input to business cases where they involve productivity, cost savings, or resource efficiency improvements. This position will support the startup of new processes or changes.
- Supports capital project planning by providing input to capital plans and prioritization & giving inputs that support the business cases.
- Troubleshoot the Amboy processes, including support the determination of root causes, for example in determining reasons behind first pass quality failures.
- Utilize Six Sigma or Kaizen to drive process improvement (training will be provided/required if not already certified)
- Support R&D or production for “first” or “new” productions as needed. Work closely with R&D to understand the key requirements in our processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Food Processing Engineering, or related discipline.
- Two years of experience in food and/or chemical industry preferred.
- Training in MS Office, AutoCAD, and MS Project desirable.
- Six Sigma or Kaizen certified, or willing to get certified.
