Job Description
- Analyze the workplace environment and devise programs aimed at managing, eradicating, and preventing occupational illnesses, injuries, and environmental harm stemming from physical, chemical, biological, and ergonomic factors.
- Offer technical assistance to frontline leadership concerning occupational health, safety, security, environmental compliance, process safety (HAZOP), and loss prevention matters.
- Conduct on-site inspections to enforce compliance with laws, regulations, and company policies governing occupational safety and environmental practices.
- Aid in gathering data necessary for meeting environmental permit and reporting obligations (e.g., air quality, water management, waste disposal).
- Generate reports for internal use and regulatory submissions, including compliance calendars.
- Develop and oversee initiatives fostering a proactive EHS culture, including programs to boost employee engagement, education, and recognition through involvement in safety committees, incident investigations, training sessions, and compliance audits.
- Analyze EHS data to identify trends and causal factors, such as system failures, human errors, flawed decision-making, or deficiencies in existing policies, practices, or regulations.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in environmental health and safety, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Proficiency in interpersonal communication, Microsoft Office applications, and computer operations.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, resolve conflicts, provide employee counseling, and offer technical guidance on policies and procedures.
- Capability to conduct physical inspections across various settings including office spaces, warehouses, utility areas, construction sites, and manufacturing facilities.
- Proficiency in coaching, teaching, and presenting to groups, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local safety regulations, protocols, and procedures.
- Willingness to travel to support designated regions.
