Technical Writer - Calibration & Metrology
Job Description
Location: North Chicago, IL
- Develop, review, and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions related to calibration and metrology processes.
- Ensure that all calibration and metrology documentation complies with stringent industry regulations (e.g., FDA, cGMP) and internal quality standards.
- Collaborate closely with calibration and metrology technicians, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather information and ensure document accuracy.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement within the calibration and metrology procedures and recommend enhancements to optimize efficiency and accuracy.
- Participate in audits and inspections related to calibration and metrology, providing comprehensive documentation and support as needed.
- Develop training materials and deliver training sessions to staff members, ensuring they are well-informed and competent in calibration and metrology procedures.
- Promote and enforce a culture of safety and compliance within the Calibration/Metrology department, emphasizing adherence to safety protocols and best practices.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies in calibration and metrology to incorporate best practices into documentation and processes.
- Collaborate with the document management system to ensure efficient access, retrieval, and archival of calibration and metrology documentation, facilitating timely data retrieval and reporting.
- Assist in facilitating the documentation review/approval process.
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering, Science, Technical Writing), or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience as a Technical Writer, preferably in a pharmaceutical or regulated industry.
- Knowledge of calibration and metrology principles and practices is necessary.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, cGMP) and quality standards.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in documentation software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint).
- Experience working in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Technical experience in calibration or metrology is preferred.
