Design Engineer II
Job Description
- Supports production by diagnosing and solving problems with materials and processes to maintain or improve quality
- Supports operations and service organizations in implementing and maintaining product through life cycle; works closely with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and supporting functions to identify and address any issues affecting productivity and quality
- Conducts testing and inspections at manufacturing and customer sites as required
- Communicates with supply chain to purchase necessary components
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- 0-2 years’ experience in design engineering within a manufacturing environment
- Competent in engineering design/CAD software; able to perform standard engineering design calculations (stress, strain, heat transfer, pipe flows, etc.)
- Knowledge of applied mechanics, vibrations, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and manufacturing techniques
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software; ability to accurately design, CAD and check a project with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in computer programs relevant to assigned position, e.g., Matlab, PSIM, PLEX, NX Unigraphics, SAP, ERP LN 10.7, BAAN ERP, FEA, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD 2D, and Progress Rails specific programs and applications
- Ability to read and understand specification and standards documents; proficient in interpreting and creating engineering drawings
- Proficient in ASME Y14 or above
- GD&T capability
- Experience with project estimating and order management
