Estimator/Technical Sales
Job Description
- All products are engineered to order; manage approximately four to six active projects/quotes at a time
- Review blueprints and specifications to gather the information needed to prepare quotes
- Speak with customers by phone to clarify requirements and obtain missing information
- Calculate and prepare accurate project quotes, estimates, and proposals, including material and labor cost evaluations from scratch
- Review customer requirements and develop detailed project scopes to ensure proposed solutions align with manufacturing capabilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact between customers and internal departments to confirm requirements and provide project updates
- Generate and coordinate tooling work orders and project documentation for internal manufacturing teams
- Work closely with engineering, purchasing, production, and quality teams to move projects efficiently through the quoting-to-manufacturing process
- Track quote status and project timelines to ensure jobs move forward on schedule
- Transfer completed quote and project information to the production team
- Review completed projects and gather feedback to support continuous improvement and future quoting accuracy
- Ensure all documentation, drawings, and specifications are maintained accurately throughout the quoting and project lifecycle
- Background in Technical Sales, Inside Sales, Sales Engineering, or Estimating
- Must be able to read and interpret detailed blueprints, not just pictograms
- Comfortable working in Microsoft Excel
- Experience in a manufacturing, tooling, machining, or fabrication environment preferred
- Epicor ERP experience helpful but not required — the company is currently implementing the system
- Experience with CAD software (Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar) is a plus, but not required
- Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple departments
