Job Title: Controls Engineer/PLC Programmer
Job Summary/Objective: We are seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer/PLC Programmer to design, test, install and maintain large-scale electrical/electronic equipment or machinery for use in manufacturing. The ideal candidate should have a background in a manufacturing environment and capital equipment desired.
Job Duties and Responsibilities: The Controls Engineer/PLC Programmer will be responsible for managing the manufacturing process for electrical equipment, using design software to produce schematics, and applying principles and techniques of electrical engineering to accomplish goals. Specific duties and responsibilities include:
• Primary function of the employee will be PLC and HMI programming. These programs are integrated with several other devices such as servo drives, vision systems, and pneumatic/hydraulic devices. • Review specifications and standard practices – inclusive of the internal hardwire and logic standards, general specifications, and scope of work. • Review projects including job specifications and assist sales with sales orders.
• Design requirements which include establishing summaries, generating a sequence of operations, reviewing cycle time studies and dimension switch layouts, generation of design packages, design logic, enter logic and the design of Smart displays (HMI) • Will be responsible for the programming, installation and technical support of PLC based hardware and software. Working with the team to find and develop new solutions for the machines. • Collaborating with team members to find and develop new programming solutions.

Work Environment: The job is performed indoors in a traditional office setting with extended periods of sitting while using a computer. While performing the duties of this job, the employee has exposure to a manufacturing environment which includes moving cranes, fork-lift, and various metal machining centers.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, and can expect to work 40-45 hours per week. More hours may be required as job duties demand.
Required Education and Experience: • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering preferred or similar education. • 5+ years preferred experience as a PLC Siemens programmer.
• Background in a manufacturing environment and capital equipment desired. • Demonstrated ability to program motion control systems. • Electrical drawing software familiarity, ability to read and understand electrical drawings (Schematics) • Ability to assemble and troubleshoot electro-mechanical systems.
