Automation Specialist
Job Description
As an Automation Solutions Specialist, you will commission new building automation systems, ensuring proper installation, programming, and operations. Your expertise will involve configuring networks, troubleshooting issues, performing testing and verification, and providing customer training to help create efficient and sustainable building environments. With regular customer interaction, you will play a crucial role in enabling energy savings and promoting environmental sustainability through intelligent building solutions.
- Commission new direct digital control systems on construction sites within planned timelines, documenting details, communicating deficiencies, and tracking progress.
- Perform data backups, create automated backup procedures, troubleshoot inconsistencies, configure workstations and user interfaces, and ensure proper network performance.
- Conduct operational testing, verification, and acceptance, including running reports, performing inspections, providing customer training, and completing written reports.
- Coordinate with trade contractors to perform startup services and ensure smooth project site communication.
- Submit accurate time and expense reports, adhering to local, corporate, and OSHA safety policies and procedures.
- Participate in the on-call rotation as required.
- 3+ years of experience installing and programming HVAC control systems.
- Preferred: High school diploma or GED; Associate or Bachelor's degree in electronics, mechanical engineering, or related
- Demonstrated expertise in integrating low-voltage building sub-systems industry protocols (LON, BACnet, N2, Modbus, etc.).
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret design and construction documents.
- Willingness to work in various conditions, including climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high lift equipment, working in ducts, crawl spaces, roofs, basements, and above ceilings.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, laptops, email, smartphones, tablets, and the ability to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
